New Reports I’m going to be changing the reports up just a bit. To free up more of my time and to write about more relevant information, I’ll be sending out my reports on a bi-monthly basis instead of a monthly basis. So, this report covers both January and February. For those who wish to keep up with the mission work more regularly, I’m planning on setting up a blog on the internet. There, readers can keep up on what’s going on in O’Fallon on a weekly basis and leave comments about it, if you wish. The e-report will be changing as well. Because spam filters keep them from getting to the intended recipients, instead of getting the full report in your inbox, you’ll get a message with a link to the page on our website. Again, if you have been getting these e-reports and no longer wish to do so, please e-mail me and I’ll remove you from my list. The same goes for people wanting to receive the reports: contact me and I’ll add your name. But please, don’t tag these e-reports as spam. Doing so may keep others from reading them who wish to do so. Progress at a Snail’s Pace Things have been progressing here in O’Fallon, but ever so slowly. In fact, sometimes it’s hard to see it at all. Attendance has been up and down. On Sundays, we broke our long-standing attendance record of 21, but were also down in the low teens a few times. For our Bible Studies, sickness and other factors have cut into our time, forcing us to cancel several times. However, I believe that people have learned and grown spiritually. The progress is there, but sometimes it isn’t noticeable when just glancing at it. Youth Rally The end of January found us driving to Central MBC in St. Jacob’s, IL for our area youth rally. We took 9 kids for a good program and lunch provided by Central. Afterward, we had a good time of fellowship while bowling. Overall, it was a great afternoon except for Quentin following another church group out of the building and getting lost. (At least he was lost to us and the police officer looking for him. He said he knew where he was the whole time!) We need to teach him that, although being like Jesus is good, this wasn’t the same as Jesus being separated from His parents in the Temple! Visiting FBC In the middle of February, my family and I took a trip to Bryant, AR to spend time with our sponsoring church, First Baptist. It was great to spend time fellowshipping with Bro. Miller and his family and to spend time with the church and mission committee. I preached in both services and gave a presentation about what is going on currently with the mission work. In the near future, I would like to make other trips like this to supporting churches updating them on what is going on and what we are doing in the future. If you would like me to come to your church, please let me know and we’ll arrange a date. Working for a Warmer Day With January and February in the history books, we’re gotten the coldest days of 2009 behind us in O’Fallon. And with that, we are all looking forward to the warmer days of spring and (eventually) summer. And with that comes our busiest time and biggest event with the Bible Day Camp. We have started to prepare already by planning all the things that need to be done. Now comes the fun part—doing it. I know our ladies will be especially be busy the next few months preparing things for the day camp. Not only that, but we have several other projects coming up soon. Please pray that all of us will be diligent in all aspects of the Lord’s work. Also, please pray that God will use our work for His glory. What could be better than having the things we do make an eternal difference in someone else’s life? |
